Rupert Murdoch looking to control his estate from the grave

Some people, including Rupert Murdoch apparently, like to put controls on their money and assets after they die. In the world of estate planning we call this controlling from the grave… not that there is anything wrong with it. Heck, it’s your money so set it up how you want! Reading this NY Times article it appears Mr. Murdoch is looking to modify an irrevocable trust which adds a layer of complexity. These type of trusts are technically not changeable or at least not amendable… but there are exceptions. If you have an irrevocable trust that you want to change hire an experienced estate planning attorney to go over your options!  I have no knowledge of the Murdoch situation, beyond this article, so no clue what will happen. I bet it’ll be interesting though!
